Pine quarterback Joey Seal and wide receiver Jordan Anderson connected for three touchdowns and the defense forced five turnovers in a 27-8 victory over Central Catholic, in Friday night’s season opener at Pine.
The Seal-Anderson connection included receptions of 60, 45 and 50 yards. Anderson finished with four catches for 160 yards and three touchdowns.
“Jordan’s has had a good fall so far,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said. “He had a good day during the scrimmage. They were stacking the box against (Jakyran) Handy, so it opened the passing game up.”
Seal threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 41 yards on five carries.
Handy ran for 51 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.
Delvric Dillon finished with 32 yards on four attempts.
Defensively, the Raiders forced five turnovers.
Rayshun Bell, Markel Cotton and Dillon intercepted a pass each. Brendon Kelley and Logan Temples both recovered a fumble for the Raiders.
“I thought the defense played well all night,” coach Seal said. “I think it started with us stopping the run with our defensive line.”
Pine is back in action Friday night when the Raiders travel to Varnado to play the Wildcats. Varnado lost its opener, 25-16, to Albany.
