Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers suffered a 41-6 loss to Silliman Institute at home Friday night.
Jace Schexnider scored the Buccaneers’ only touchdown with a 2-yard quarterback keeper that made the score, 27-6, in the third quarter. Schexnider replaced Cam Bell, who left with an injury in the first half. Bowling Green coach David Currier thinks Bell will be OK.
Bowling Green struggled throughout. The Bucs had just 123 yards of total offense, with 117 coming on the ground.
Larry Dillon led the team in rushing with 69 yards on seven attempts.
C.J. Smith posted 30 yards on seven carries.
Silliman ran for 153 yards and threw for 215 yards.
Defensively, Charles Panksley had seven tackles, while Smith finished with six.
“We need to be more physical offensively and defensively,” Currier said. “We need to do the basics of football — blocking and tackling. We also can’t give up the big play.”
Bowling Green (0-3) is back in action Friday and will travel to Wayne Academy. Wayne, which is 1-2 this year, lost to Heritage Academy by the score of 42-16 on Friday.
