Bowling Green forfeits win over Ben’s Ford

Bowling Green School had to forfeit its 20-13 win over Ben’s Ford Christian School in last week’s regular season opener, because of an ineligible player.
“We inadvertently played an ineligible student. We thought had been here long enough to play, but he wasn’t,” Bowling Green principal Beverly Young said.
Young said the rule is that a student has to be in class for an entire week. The player enrolled on Friday, Aug. 18, but technically did not begin class until the Monday prior to the Ben’s Ford game.
“I hate it for us and for the team, but things like that happen. You’ve got to roll with it and pick yourself up for the next game,” Young said.
The forfeit dropped Bowling Green’s record to 0-2 this season, and improved Ben’s Ford record to 2-0. The Buccaneers are back in action tonight, as they host Silliman Institute, which is also 0-2.
