Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks are at home this evening, where they will hold a scrimmage against the Bonnabel Bruins at 5:30 p.m.
“We’re looking to see if we can get lined up right and get some positive yards. We’ve got some young kids playing and we’re looking to see how they do against a 5A school,” Bogalusa coach David Roberts said.
The first part of the contest will be a controlled scrimmage, as the teams will run several series of plays.
The scrimmage will cap off with the teams playing a 15-minute quarter. There will be special teams, but they won’t be live.
“We’re glad Bonnabel could come up. It gives us a good look,” Roberts said. “They’ve got some good athletes and good kids. That’s what I wanted to do with our kids. Test them early and see what they’ve got.”
Bogalusa is just 14 days away from the 2017 season opener. The Lumberjacks compete in the first game of the Washington Parish Jamboree next Friday against Varnado. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
