Wildcats on the road today to scrimmage Independence

Varnado takes to the field this evening and will give its fans a preview of their team, as the Wildcats travel to Independence for a scrimmage.
“It’s a new year, a new team and new faces,” Varnado coach Scott Shaffett said. “You’re looking to see who’s going to step up and fill some holes. We lost a lot of guys last year, so we’re looking to see who will step up. Just because somebody didn’t start last year doesn’t mean they can’t start this year. We’re trying to find out who wants to play.”
The event will be game-like situations. The teams will be series. As long as a team gets first downs, they will get to keep the ball.
Varnado opens the regular season in 15 days. Following tomorrow night, the Wildcats are back in action a week from Friday in the Washington Parish Jamboree, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Varnado will play in the jamboree’s opening game against Bogalusa.
