The Bogalusa Baseball Summer Camp took place last week Wednesday through Friday at the Bogalusa Sports Complex and taught the participants different skills associated with the sport.
Camp director Brady Mitchell said the coaches focused on teaching the basic fundamentals of hitting, fielding and throwing.
“Let the kids learn to develop into the proper mechanics of baseball, so to prevent injury from arms, elbow injuries, shoulder injuries,” Mitchell said. “Like I said, basic fundamentals is really more important at this age.”
Mitchell, a 2013 Franklinton High School graduate, said the older campers worked on fundamentals for specific fielding positions.
The campers ranged in age from 5-15.
Mitchell said this is his way of giving back to the children and letting them have fun.
This was the first year of the camp and Mitchell said he would like for it to be an annual clinic.
