Two Bogalusa men were arrested this week for multiple burglaries throughout the city, said Maj. Percy Knight, public information officer for the Bogalusa Police Department.

Eric Butler

“Earlier this week, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were interviewing Eric Butler, 31, of Bogalusa for business burglaries in Washington Parish,” Knight said. “During the course of the interview, Butler confessed that he, along with Darnell Reed, 46, of Bogalusa had burglarized several businesses in the city limits of Bogalusa.”

The BPD was alerted, and Capt. Charles Helton, head of the department’s Detective Division, went to the Washington Parish Jail in Franklinton and interviewed Butler.

“Butler confessed again that he and Darnell Reed burglarized the House of Seafood on South Columbia Street, the Chevron Convenience store on Marshall Richardson Road, Citi Trends on Richmond Street, and NAPA Auto Parts on Superior Avenue,” Knight said.

Helton obtained arrest warrants for both Butler and Reed. On Wednesday, Helton arrested Reed, who was in the Bogalusa City Jail on previous burglary charges, for four counts of simple burglary.

Darnell Reed

The following day, Wednesday, Helton headed to the Washington Parish Jail in Franklinton to arrest Butler for four counts of simple burglary.

An additional arrest warrant will be obtained on Darnell Reed for simple burglary of the Jr. Food Mart located on Superior Avenue, Knight said.
