Franklinton football tickets

Franklinton High School Demons football is gearing up for another great year. Season ticket sales are open to the public. Tickets are $50 per seat for the season and do not include scrimmages or playoff games.

Tickets can be purchased at the Franklinton High School office.

Franklinton’s regular season home opener is Sept. 8 against Fontainebleau.

Pine hosts Push-a-Thon to raise money

Pine’s High School’s football team is hosting a “Push-a-Thon” to help raise money for a new sound system at the football stadium. The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 5 at Raider Field at 10 a.m.

People can sponsor players and local preachers to see how many push-ups they can do in three minutes.

YMCA Golf Tournament coming up

The 13th annual YMCA Golf Tournament takes place Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Bogalusa Country Club.

The two-person scramble costs $100 per golfer.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with lunch being served at 11 a.m. and tee time is noon.

Sponsorships range from $300 to $2,500.

Muscular Dystrophy Benefit Golf Tournament date set

The Muscular Dystrophy Benefit Golf Tournament, which was postponed earlier this summer now takes place Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Bogalusa Country Club.
The two-person scramble, which is hosted by the Bogalusa Firefighters Association, is $100 per golfer to enter.

Each player will be allowed one mulligan, which is included in the entry fee. No mulligans are allowed on any par-3 holes.

Team registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and tee time is set for 8 a.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place finishers in the three flights.

There will also be an opportunity to win hole-in-one prizes.

Food and beverages will be provided and flights will be determined at the end of the tournament.

The event is limited to 27 teams.

Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce Saints Raffle

The 11th annual Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce Saints Ticket Raffle is under way to benefit the chamber.

The first two drawings have already taken place, but the season ticket drawing is taking place Friday, Aug. 4.

The drawing is for two regular season tickets in the club level in section 315, row 17, seats 19-20.

The tickets are for regular season home games only and does not include playoff games.

Raffle tickets cost $25 and 500 at most will be sold.

The drawing takes place at Yoyo’s on Louisiana Avenue at 6 p.m.

Tickets can be bought at Yoyo’s and Golden Pear. You can also buy tickets at the Bogalusa Chamber at 608 Willis Ave.

Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival 5K Run is in September

The Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival 5K Run takes place Saturday, Sept. 30 at 8 a.m.

Early registration for the annual event, which is in Cassidy Park, costs $20. Early signups end Thursday, Aug. 31. The T-shirt order deadline is Sept. 9. Those who place orders after Sept. 9 are not eligible for the free T-shirt.

The cost to run in the race starting Sept. 1 is $25. Raceday signups are from 7 a.m. until 7:45 a.m. on the day of the event.

PRCC Baseball Camps coming up

The Pearl River Community College baseball program has a busy schedule on tap for the early part of the fall semester, including camp and showcase opportunities for players in grades seven and above.

Coming up first is a Baseball Showcase for high school players in grades 9-12 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Wildcat Stadium at the PRCC Sports Complex.

The goal is to give participants a chance to display their skills in front of college coaches from a number of programs, including PRCC, in a pro-style workout. Players will be evaluated in areas of speed, offense, defense and pitching.

The cost is $100 and is limited to the first 100 applicants. Late registration will begin at 1 p.m. on Aug. 27.

The 2017 PRCC Junior High Fall Camp will be held on Tuesdays in September. The camp is for players in grades 7-9.

The first night, all players will participate in a practice and evaluation with PRCC coaches and players. The remainder of the camp will consist of instruction in all phases of the game, including game simulation, and speed and agility training.

Cost of the camp is $175 and is limited to the first 40 applicants. Registration must be received by Sept. 1. Check-in for the first camp Sept. 5 is at 5:45 p.m. Camps will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26.

Later in the fall, the PRCC Baseball Camp/League for high school players in grades 9-12 will be held. Cost is $200 and the registration deadline is Oct. 4.

Baseball camp coming up at USM

The University of Southern Mississippi has a baseball camp coming up at Pete Taylor Park.

The third annual Father-Son Camp, which is Aug. 26, is open to children from kindergarten through eight grade and provides an outstanding bonding opportunity for the parent and child while learning baseball and developing an understanding of key fundamentals in maximizing their child’s full potential.

Teaching areas include pitching, hitting, catching, infield and outfield play. The goal of the one-day camp is to provide answers and training solutions to the questions most often asked by today’s fathers and youth league players.

The clinic runs from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with check-in at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $100 for both child and parent and $25 for each additional child. The fee includes a free T-shirt for all campers.
