Lady Bucs softball opens this week

Bowling Green School’s softball team starts their season Thursday, which begins a busy month of August.
The Lady Bucs are coming off of a successful season that saw them come just one win short in the from playing in the finals of the South AAA Tournament and the Class AAA Tournament. The Lady Buccaneers finished third in both.
This year, Bowling Green has a young team.
“I know that we are a young team, but we have a very talented group of girls,” Bowling Green coach Meghan Dyer said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what this season brings us.”
The month of August will be a busy one for the Lady Bucs, as 12 playing dates are scheduled. Two of those are tournaments. Bowling Green plays in the Amite School Center Tournament on Aug. 12. A week later, the team is headed to the Silliman Institute Tourney.
Five games are scheduled in September between Sept. 5 and Sept. 19. The South State and State Tournaments follow.
The season begins next Thursday, Aug. 3, with a road game against Centreville Academy.
After that, Bowling Green is at home for its next three games that take place Aug. 7, 8 and 11, before the Lady Bucs play in the Amite School Center Tournament.
The third of the three home games is the district opener against Wayne Academy.
The regular season concludes Sept. 19 against Brookhaven on the road.
