Several Bowling Green archers reach state tourneys

Bowling Green’s archery team had several members qualify for Louisiana and Mississippi state tournaments over the weekend.
The Mississippi Archery Shooters Association Tournament was Saturday in Laurel, Miss.
Meredith Rogers and Kaylyn Dupre advanced to the state tournament in the Female Middle School Pins division. Rogers won the division and Dupre was runner-up.
Three males qualified in Middle School Pins.
Austin Forbes won the event while Connor Dedon was second, followed by Jeremy Bryant.
The following day in Sorrento, six Bowling Green archery competitors qualified for the Louisiana state tournament in Middle School Pins.
Rogers won the female division.
Forbes was victorious in the male division.
Matthew Bienvenu was second, followed by Bryant, Deon and Andrew Taylor.
Several Bowling Green members are ranked nationally by the ASA.
Rogers is third, Dupre is 10th and Gibson is 24th.
In the male division, Bryant is ranked seventh, Forbes is 13th, Bienvenu is 16th and Dedon is 32nd.
This year’s defending state champs are Rogers and Bienvenu for Mississippi and Forbes for Louisiana.
The state tournaments take place in July.
This weekend, the group is headed to nationals at Augusta, Ga.
