Bucs’ Bischoff, Cowart reach podium

Bowling Green School senior teammates capped off their high school track and field careers on the podium at the overall meet that took place Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep.
Cameron Cowart made the podium, which includes the top three finishers, by taking third in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 2.25 inches. Central Private School’s Austin Weber won the Class AAA title at 21-8.25 and Silliman Institute’s Austin Bizette was runner-up with a jump of 21-7.75.
Daniel Bischoff ran third in the 1,600 meters, with a finish of 4 minutes, 47 seconds. Cathedral Unit School’s Jalen McCoy won the title in 4:44 with Starkville Academy’s A.J. Willard nearly a second behind at 4:45 for second place.
Bischoff was also seventh during the 3,200 with a time of 12:38. Columbia Academy’s Kenny Price was the Class AAA champion after running in 10:55. Hartfield Academy’s Will Sullivan was second at 11:02.
The overall meet took place over a two-day period. The track events were Friday while the field events were Saturday.
Kenny Robertson finished seventh in the triple jump at 40-2. Park Place Christian’s Darion Cole won the title at 42-7. Winston Academy’s Jesse Boydstun was second at 42-0 and Bizette was third with a jump of 41-0.5.
Landry Dupont was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Bayou Academy’s Sydney Davis was the Class AAA champion after running the race in 46 seconds. Starkville Academy’s Shelton Spivey was second at 48.29, followed by Centreville Academy’s Sydnie Lyons.
