Franklinton’s Brett Bryant competed in the Division II state tournament that took place Monday and Tuesday at the Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette.
The junior finished 37th in the two-round event, after posting scores of 89 and 91 for a 180 total.
Golfers qualified for state over two tournaments — the district and regional. In order to continually advance, the top four teams and the top four golfers that were not on an advancing team moved on to the next level.
Individually, E.D. White’s Nicholas Arcement is the state champion after posting a 139 over the two rounds with scores of 64 and 75.
He won by three strokes over St. Louis Catholic’s Zac Eisner in a close competition, as 47 participants took part.
Just four strokes separated first place from fourth place. Loranger’s Kristofer Kerr and Benton’s Colton Ryan tied for third with a 143 each and St. Louis’ Logan Kuehn and South Lafourche’s Kyle Estay tied for fifth with a 146 apiece.
Teurlings Catholic captured the team state championship after posting a 594 for the two days, with rounds of 295 and 299. The top four golfers’ scores from each team are used to determine team score.
Teurlings won by 10 strokes over St. Louis in the eight-team field.
