Lady Bucs McDonald, Dupont reach overall meet

Bowling Green’s Landry Dupont and Shelby McDonald qualified for the overall meet in an event each at last week’s South State Meet at Silliman.
Dupont is headed to the overall meet in the 300-meter hurdles after taking second. She ran the race in 51.71 seconds. Centreville Academy’s Sydnie Lyons won the event in 51.13.
McDonald was fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 19.37. Lyons also won that race, this time in 17.60.
Track events took place Saturday. Field events were Friday. The top four finishers from each event qualified for the overall meet. The overall meet takes place Friday and Saturday at Jackson Prep. The field events are Friday and the track events are Saturday.
In order to reach the South State Meet, athletes had to finish in the top four at their district meets.
Silliman won the team competition with 106.5 points, as eight teams put up points. Centreville was second with 47, followed by Cathedral’s 38, Simpson Academy’s 28.5 and Columbia Academy’s 18. Bowling Green and Adams County Christian School tied for seventh with six points each.
