Franklinton has 2 relay teams heading to Saturday’s state meet

Franklinton had two relay teams advance to the state meet in last Wednesday’s 3-4A Regional Meet that took place at South Terrebonne High School.
The Demons’ 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams made it to state.
The 4×200 team tallied a second-place finish at 1 minute, 31 seconds, while the 4×100 group was third after completing the race in 43.74 seconds.
Both teams featured Rakerian Conerly, Tahj Magee, Kian Conerly and Markus Conerly.
Edna Karr won both races. They ran the 4×100 in 43.22 and the 4×200 in 1:28.
The meet was a qualifying event. The top three finishers in each event advanced to state meet. The Class 4A state meet will take place Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium on LSU’s campus.
To reach the regionals, participants needed to come in the top four at their district meets.
The Demons’ 4×400 relay team was 15th at regionals, with a time of 3:55. The group consisted of Rondrick King, Rodney King, Jasper Lasalle and Jaquan Anthony. Karr won in 3:27.
Rodney King and Austin Thomassen were fifth and sixth respectively in the javelin with throws of 144 feet, 3 inches and 140-1. South Lafourche’s Jeremy Rogers won at 161-2.
King also ran seventh and 11th in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, with times of 16.19 and 44.11, respectively. Karr’s Harrison Coleman won both hurdles events — the 110 in 14.63 and the 300 in 38.64.
Rakerian Conerly and Kian Conerly ran sixth and seventh in the 100 in 11.77 and 11.78. Karr’s Racey Mcmath won in 11.24.
Taylor Cooper was 10th for the 800 in 2:11. Riverdale’s Sedrick Hawkins Jr. ran a 2:01 to win.
Markus Conerly was seventh in the 200 in 23.54. Karr’s Rodney Johnson won in 22.33.
Karr won the team competition with 81 points in a close finish. A.J. Ellender was second at 74 points, as 19 teams had at least one point. Vandebilt Catholic was third with 52 points, followed by South Lafourche’s 46 and Lakeshore’s 38. Franklinton scored 18 points to finish 14th.
In the girls competition, Porsha Delatte was sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.99. Ursuline Academy’s Alaysia Terry won in 16.72.
Raelyn Gross ran the 100 in 13.28 for 10th. Karr’s Rikianne Patterson won in 12.39.
Danaria Magee finished 14th in the javelin and 16th for the discus. Her javelin throw was 77-4 and her discus throw went 65-8. Lakeshore’s Ashely Ducre won the discus at 108-10 and Assumption’s Elise Smith was the javelin winner with a distance of 127-5.
Marlaysia Robertson took 10th in the shot put with a distance of 28-0. Cabrini’s Baily Braud won at 35-9.5.
Tellise Magee was ninth for the long jump at 15-3.5. Patterson long jumped 19-5 to win.
Drachir Magee tied Cabrini’s Jade Peoples for fifth in the high jump, as both cleared the bar at 4-10. Ursuline’s Caroline Castle, Loranger’s Lindsey Ard and Vandebilt Catholic’s Megan Blanchard also had heights of 4-10. The tiebreaker is fewest misses. Castle finished fourth, followed by the tie between Magee and Peoples and Ard and Blanchard tied for seventh. Karr’s Alacia Myles won at 5-6.
Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 teams were both 10th with times of 51.99 and 1:51.
The 4×100 group had Jayln Bickham, Tellise Magee, Jada Thompson and Gross.
The 4×200 team featured Bickham, India Dickerson, Tellise Magee and Gross.
Karr won the team competition, which was also close. Karr had 89 points while second place Vandebilt Catholic posted 79, as 20 teams posted at least one point.
Ursuline was third at 57.33, followed by McDonogh 35’s 53 and Assumption’s 38.
