Bucs Bischoff, Cowart advance

Bowling Green’s Daniel Bischoff captured two events at the District 5AAA meet, as he and Cameron Cowart advanced to South State in two competitions each at Silliman Institute on Thursday.
Bischoff won the 1,600 meters and 3,200. He ran the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 54 seconds and won by five seconds, as Silliman’s Peyton Bickham was second at 4:59.
Bickham had a time of 11:15 in the 3,200. Silliman’s Bradley Marler was runner-up in 11:40.
Cowart was victorious in the long jump and finished third in the 100.
He long jumped 21 feet, 10 inches. Central Private School’s Austin Weber was second with a distance of 21-6.5.
Cowart had a 100 time of 11.72. Silliman’s Austin Bizette was second in 11:48.
Thursday’s meet was a qualifying meet. The top four finishers from each event advanced to the South State Meet. The field events will take place today, while the running is set for Saturday. Both days are being held at Silliman.
Kenny Robertson and Jonathan Smith also advanced to South State.
Robertson was third in the triple jump with a 39-5.5. Centreville’s Matthew Parnell won at 40-1.5.
Smith was fourth in the 400 at 55.95. Centreville’s Austin Addington won in 51.58.
Also coming in the top six for Bowling Green, Brandon McElveen and C.J. Smith were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put and discus.
McElveen’s shot put distance was 37-8, while he threw the discus 99-10. Smith went for 35-4 in the shot put and 76-5.5 for the discus.
Silliman’s Garrett McManus won both events. He had a 49-1 in the shot put and a 122-11.5 during the discus.
Silliman won a close team competition with 105 points, as four teams tallied at least one point. Centreville was just three points behind at 102 for second.
Central Private finished third at 36, with Bowling Green the fourth-place team with 28 points.
