Pine’s McKenzie moves to next round

Pine’s Tanner McKenzie advanced to the regional after tying for second in the Division III District 3 meet that took place Wednesday at the Island Country Club in Plaquemine.
Teams that finished in the top four advanced to regionals and then the top four golfers that were on teams did not advance also qualified for regionals.
McKenzie tied Parkview Baptist’s B.J. Rogillio for second after the two golfers carded an 83 each. Pope John Paul II’s Zach Barrios won the event with a 73.
University Lab won the team competition with 306 points.
Regionals take place Tuesday at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs.
There was no district meet for the girls. Their regional takes place at Beaver Creek Country Club in Zachary on Monday.
