Franklinton softball falls in playoffs

Franklinton’s softball season came to an end Tuesday, after the Lady Demons took an 11-1 loss in the bi-district round of the Class 4A playoffs at Beau Chene. The game ended in six innings.
The Lady Demons had four hits — one each by Madison LaSalle, Bailey Spears, Ashlyn Ard and Stephanie Crowe. Crowe drove in the run that was scored by Ard. Ard’s hit was a double.
The game was scoreless through two innings, but Beau Chene scored four in the third, three in the fourth and two each in the fifth and sixth. Trailing 9-0 after five, the Lady Demons posted their run in the sixth.
Franklinton committed five errors that led to six unearned runs.
No. 25 Franklinton finished the season with a 10-14 record.
Eighth-seeded Beau Chene (21-7) advanced to the regionals to play ninth-seeded Lakeshore. Lakeshore was a 15-0 winner over Minden in three innings.
