Franklinton’s King victorious in pair of events at Lakeshore

MANDEVILLE — Franklinton’s Rodney King won a pair of individual events, the Demons swept the three relays and Rakerian and Markus Conerly won an individual event each at the Ed McGehee Classic that took place Wednesday at Lakeshore High School.
King was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles and the javelin. He ran the hurdles in 14.84 seconds and threw the javelin 143 feet. He was also runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 45.32.
Franklinton’s Lamont Harris was fourth in the 110s with a time of 18.76. Jasper LaSalle ran the 300s in 48.13 for third and his javelin throw of 117-5 was good for fifth and
Salmen’s Anthony Mosley was second in the 110s at 15.01 and Pope John Paul II’s Peyton Smith was runner up in the javelin at 139-6.
Mosley ran a 42.33 for the 300-meter hurdles for the victory.
The Demons won every relay race. They ran the 4×100 in 43.96, the 4×200 at 1 minute, 32 seconds and the 4×400 in 3:49.
Salmen was second in the 4×100 at 45.79 and the 4×200 in 1:33. The host school posted a 3:55 during the 4×400 for runner up.
Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 runners included Tahj Magee, Markus Conerly, Rakerian Conerly and Kian Conerly. The 4×400 team consisted of Jacquan Anthony, Damien Fox, Rodney King and Rondrick King.
Rakerian Conerly was victorious in the 100, as he finished in 11.02 seconds in a close race with teammate Kian Conerly coming in second, just .07 seconds behind.
Markus Conerly won the 200 in 22.77. Ronderick King took fourth at 23.90.
Salmen’s T’Jerren Bradstreet was second at 23.22.
Sheldon Baham tied Lakeshore’s Keysahwn Casnave for second in the long jump, as both went 18-9. Salmen’s Carey Holmes won the event at 19-8.5.
Fox finished third in the 400 at 55.60. Anthony ran a 56.85 for sixth. Casnave won in 52.57.
Sam Smith was third in the triple jump at 38-2. Pope John Paul II’s Jordan Davis won with a distance of 41-2.
Taylor Cooper took third in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 8-0. Lakeshore’s Logan Leblanc won at 13-6.
Cooper and Harris ran third and fourth respectively in the 800 with times of 2:22 and 2:23. Lakeshore’s Brandon Shows won in 2:06.
Copper and Jacob Dominguez were fourth and sixth for the 1,600 at 5:37 and 5:54. Shows also won that race and his time was 4:47.
Cooper and Jacob Dominguez were fourth and sixth during the 3,200 with times of 13:11 and 14:28. Shows was the winner in 11:08.
Carson Ragas and Joe Magee were sixth and seventh for the shot put at 33-9.5 and 32-3.5. Lakeshore’s Nicholas Fontenot won with a distance of 40-9.5
Joe Magee and Spencer Lambert were fifth and sixth in the shot put with throws of 93-7 and 81-5. Lakeshore’s Zackary Bernard recorded a 120-2 to win.
Lakeshore won the team competition with 136 points, as five teams tallied points.
Franklinton was second with 106.
Salmen posted 78 points for third, followed by Pope John Paul II’s 41 and Independence’s 8.
