Demons split with Salmen

Franklinton was topped by Salmen, 4-2, in Tuesday’s District 8-4A game that took place on the road, but rebounded two days later at home with a 4-2 win.
In Thursday’s victory, Hunter Maxwell threw a complete-game three-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks for the win.
Both runs came in the fourth inning that gave Salmen a 2-0 lead.
Franklinton scored four unanswered runs.
The first came in the bottom of the fourth. Mike Martin walked and J.J. Jackson tripled him in to make it 2-1.
Franklinton tied the contest in the fifth. Trent Varnado walked and Jared Jenkins singled to left, but the fielder misplayed it and Varnado scored to even the game at 2-2.
The Demons took the lead in the sixth. Martin walked and Jackson singled to put runners on the corners.
Jamarian Crain singled home Martin to make it 3-2. Jackson was thrown out at home and the next hitter, Wyatt Verret reached on an error and Crain tallied the insurance run on the play.
In Tuesday’s game, Crain went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Verret recorded a hit and a run batted in.
Collin Dominguez and Varnado had a hit each.
The Demons made five errors that led to three unearned runs.
