Pierce shoots 3-under par, as LSU captures tournament

LSU was victorious at the Aggie Invitational at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas and Brandon Pierce had a strong tournament that took place Saturday and was rained out Sunday.
The teams played two rounds on Saturday and was 11-under par for the two rounds with scores of 282 and 283 respectively.
LSU won by a stroke over Baylor, which was 10 under with rounds o 278 and 288, in pretty much a two-team race. Texas A&M University was third at one over with Oklahoma State was fourth at four over and Texas and North Carolina both tallied five over for fifth. The top four scores from each team were used to determine team scores.
Individually, Pierce finished three-under par, which tied him for sixth place with teammate Sam Burns. Pierce had rounds of 72 and 69 while Burns posted a 71 and 70.
The top six places were separated by just three strokes.
Michigan’s Kyle Mueller won the event at six under, as 74 golfers competed.
Texas A&M’s Cameron Champ, Oklahoma State University’s Zachary Olsen and Baylor teammates Cooper Dossey and Garrett May were part of a four-way tie for second after posted five-under pars.
Pierce has local ties to Bogalusa. His father, Chavgney Pierce, and his grandparents on his father’s side, Huey Pierce and Martha Pierce, are from Bogalusa. His mother, Rebecca Pierce, was an engineer at Bogalusa paper mill and taught at Bogalusa High School.
LSU is back in action on Thursday, April 13 at Tiger Classic at the University Club Golf Club in Baton Rouge. That’s a one-day event.
After that, the team will compete in the SEC Championship, beginning Friday, April 21 at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga.
