Varnado’s Jefferson nearly throws a no-hitter
Varnado’s Jaylan Jefferson almost threw a no-hitter in the Wildcats 6-2 victory over Loranger on the road Thursday.
Jefferson took the no-hit bid one out into the seventh before giving up his first hit. Jefferson pitched a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on just the one hit with seven strikeouts, four walks and a hit batter. At the plate, he had one hit.
Xavier Moses and Christian Matthews had three hits each, as the Wildcats posted 14 hits for the game. Moses doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs. Matthews tallied a pair of RBIs in the win.
Errol Varnado and Trace Lozier had a pair of hits each. Varnado scored a run for the Wildcats.
Ja’Roderick Robinson, Armontee Kemp and Travon Stokes all recorded one hit. Stokes scored a run.
Jaylen Peters and Jaccourious Bickham scored a run each.
Pine falls to Archbishop Hannan
Pine suffered an 18-2 loss to Archbishop Hannan in a District 10-2A game that took place at Coquille Parks and Recreation on Tuesday.
Pine was limited to two hits, one each by Tate Roach and Kendall Sheridan. Roach hit a solo homer and Sheridan scored a run.
Hannan led 3-0 after two innings. Pine scored a run in the third to close to within two, but the Hawks scored 14 runs in the third to go up 17-1 in the five-inning win.
Pine loses to Archbishop Hannan
Pine suffered an 11-5 loss to Archbishop Hannan in Monday’s District 10-2A home game.
The Raiders had five hits. Ethan Knight posted two hits that included a double, three runs batted in and a run scored.
Tate Roach, Rion Terrell and Trey Cooper posted a hit each. Roach scored a run and Cooper had a double.
Kendall Sheridan, Dillon Morris and Kaden Fersch all scored a run while Luke Fonda drove in a run for the Raiders.
Varnado falls to Houma Christian
Varnado’s Wildcats suffered a 13-3 loss to Houma Christian, 13-3, on the road last Friday in District 8-1A competition.
Jaylan Jefferson posted two hits. Jefferson hit a solo homer, drove in a run, doubled and scored a run.
Travon Stokes, Errol Varnado, Xavier Moses and Ja’Roderick Robinson all had one hit.
Jaccourious Bickham scored two runs for the Wildcats.
