Wildcats named 1st-team all-district

Three Varnado players made first-team all-district for the 8-1A league.
Errol Varnado, Andre Jones and Armontee Kemp all made the first team.
This season, Jones averaged a double-double per district game, with 12 points and 18 rebounds per contest.
Varnado scored 19 points per district game.
Kemp posted an average of 14 points in each league contest.
Varnado’s all-district honorable mention players are Damon Kirsh, Xavier Moses, Ardarryl McGowan and James Williams.
This season, Varnado made it to the regional round of the playoffs as the ninth-seeded team, but lost to No. 8 Centerville, 87-69.
Houma Christian’s Trey Washington is the league’s Most Valuable Player.
This season, Houma Christian was the fourth-seeded team in the Division IV playoffs, but lost to top-seeded and state runner-up Southern Lab, 62-36.
The rest of the first team includes Covenant Christian Academy teammates DaKarai Johnson and Alvis Ronkaz, Houma Christian teammates Trent Washington and Manny Frye, St. Martin’s Episcopal’s Andrew Devall and John Hurley and Ecole Classique’s Cordell Labore.
Covenant Christian Academy made the Division IV playoffs as the No. 7 seed and they reached the quarterfinal round before falling to Lafayette Christian, 87-40.
St. Martin’s Episcopal was the ninth-seeded team in the Division IV, but lost to eighth-seeded Ascension Episcopal, 51-39.
Ecole Classique made the Division IV postseason at No. 20 and lost to No. 13 St. Frederick, 53-52. St. Frederick made the regionals before falling to fourth-seeded Houma Christian, 75-50.
