Varnado’s Foster selected to district’s 1st team this season

Varnado’s Jaden Foster was selected a first-team all-district player in the 8-1A league.
Foster tallied eight points and eight rebounds per game during district play.
Varnado had two players make the second team, including Quierra Bickham and Destiny Keys.
Bickham put up 13 points and two rebounds per league contest. Keys averaged 1.5 points and five rebounds in district.
Jamonica Dillon was an honorable mention all-district player. She posted two points and a rebound per game in league play.
This season, Varnado reached the first round of the state playoffs as the No. 31 seed, but lost to second-seeded Merryville, 73-17. Merryville reached the semifinals before falling to third-seeded and eventual state champion Gueydan, 68-63, in overtime.
Houma Christian’s Dionjhae Thomas is the league’s Most Valuable Player and her coach Tammy Martin is the Coach of the Year.
This season, Houma Christian was the top-seeded team in the Division IV playoffs and finished runner-up after falling to third-seeded Lafayette Christian, 56-46, in the championship game.
The rest of the first-team players are Houma Christian’s Alicia Johnson, Covenant Christian Academy teammates Breionte Jasper and McKinley Carter and St. Martin’s Episcopal’s Khaja Bradley.
Also making second team were Houma Christian teammates Dalesia Williams and Kourtney Lee, along with Covenant Christian Academy’s Celina Odom.
The rest of the all-district honorable-mention players were Houma Christian teammates Breanna Harding, Blair Ringo, Faith Pierce, Xariel Washington and Jordyn Marie, along with St. Martin’s Episcopal’s Gabby Killet.
