Franklinton’s Gross runs 3rd in 100 meters at Cowboy Relays

Franklinton’s Raelyn Gross finished third in the 100 meters at the Cowboy Relays that took place Friday at Jewel Sumner.
Gross ran the event in 13.25 seconds. Bogalusa’s Jameka Lucas wasn’t far behind, as she finished fourth in 13.29. Port Allen’s Kayla Murphy won in 12.39.
Gross was also part of Franklinton’s two third-place relay teams.
Franklinton took third in the 4×100 and 4×200. The group ran the 4×100 in 52.11 and the 4×200 at 1 minute 52 seconds.
The rest of the 4×100 team featured Jayln Bickham, Tamirria Thomas and Tellise Magee. The rest of the 4×200 group had Bickham, Magee and Jada Thompson.
Bogalusa was fourth in the 4×200 and sixth in the 4×100.
The 4×200 time was 1:55 and the 4×100 was 55.29.
Bogalusa’s runners in the 4×200 were Khrystian Scott, Lucas, O’Layzha Morris and Prayja Bickham. The 4×100 team consisted of Mary Ladner, Scott, Samia White and Bickham.
West Feliciana won the 4×100 in 50.21 and the 4×200 in 1:47.
Several locals had fourth-place finishes for individual events including, Franklinton’s Danaria Magee, Gross and Bogalusa’s Morris.
Magee was fourth in the javelin with a distance 83 feet, 8 inches. Port Allen’s JaQuan Collins won at 109-4.
Gross took fourth in the 200 with a time of 27.70. The winner was Loranger’s Kiana Foster, who ran it in 25.72.
Morris was fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-6. West Feliciana’s Destiny Mitchell was the winner at 5-2.
Also finishing in the top six, Franklinton’s Tellise Magee long jumped at 15-0 to record a sixth-place finish. Amite’s Kayla Watson was victorious at 17-4.5.
Jewel Sumner’s Diamond Brooks won Outstanding Field Athlete and West Feliciana’s Kelly Goff was the Outstanding Track Athlete winner.
Port Allen topped the team competition with 130 points in the close meet that saw 10 teams post at least one point. West Feliciana was just two points behind at 128 for second place.
Amite scored 61 points for third, followed by Loranger’s 54 and Jewel Sumner’s 54.
Franklinton was seventh with 30 points and Bogalusa took ninth with 13.
