FHS’s Thomassen, King 2nd in event each

Franklinton’s Austin Thomassen and Rodney King finished in second place in individual events and several other local athletes had third-place finishes at the Cowboy Relays that took place Friday at Jewel Sumner.
Thomassen was runner-up in the javelin and King took second for the 300-meter hurdles. Thomassen’s distance in the javelin was 143 feet, 8 inches. Kentwood’s Jacoby White captured the javelin at 149-10.
King ran the hurdles in 43.82 seconds. Bogalusa’s Jared Jackson was third at 47.20 and Franklinton’s Jasper LaSalle took sixth in 48.72. Port Allen’s Cameron Battley won the race in 41.51.
King was also fourth in the 100 hurdles, running it in 16.15. Bogalusa’s Dre’Toris Mark was sixth at 19.73. Loranger’s Dalton Bivings won with a time of 15.88.
Several athletes from Washington Parish had third-place finishes, including Franklinton’s Sheldon Baham and Bogalusa teammates Javon Tate, Jackson and Clydeterrious Thompson.
Baham was third in the long jump at 21-1. Amite’s Myron Dokes won with a distance of 22-8.
Tate was third in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 42-1. Port Allen’s Rashawn West was victorious at 43-0.
Jackson took third in the high jump at 5-8. Franklinton’s Baham was fourth at 5-8 and Franklinton’s Sam Smith had a 5-6 to finish sixth. Port Allen’s Michael Williams won at 6-2. The tiebreaker on the high jump is fewest misses.
Thompson finished third in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 13 seconds. West Feliciana’s Chandler Sullivan, who won Outstanding Track Athlete, was victorious in 2:07.
The rest of the local athletes who finished in the top six included Franklinton’s Rakerian Conerly and Bogalusa teammates Kentrae Lewis, Demarcus Spikes, Thompson and Kahlil Williams.
Conerly was sixth in the 100 at 11.54. Amite’s Milton Sanders won in 11.23.
Lewis and Spikes were fourth and fifth in the pole vault at 9-0 and 8-0, respectively. Albany’s Nipun Wadhwa won at 12-6.
Thompson ran fourth in the 400 at 54.87. Jewel Sumner’s Austin James was tops in 50.88.
Williams took sixth in the 200 at 23.95. Kentwood’s Raymontre Palmer was first at 21.99.
In the relays, Franklinton and Bogalusa ran fifth and sixth respectively in the 4×200 with times of 1:34.6 and 1:34.7.
Franklinton’s runners were King, Tahj Magee, Rakerian Conerly and Kian Conerly.
Bogalusa’s group consisted of Tate, Thompson, Jackson and Williams.
West Feliciana won the 4×200 in 1:28.
Bogalusa recorded a fourth-place finish in the 4×400 in 4:19.
The team had Thompson, Lewis, Raheem Roberts and Spikes.
Kentwood captured the 4×400 with a time of 3:39.
Franklinton was sixth in the 4×100. They ran it in 45.14.
The team had Magee, King, Rakerian Conerly and Kian Conerly.
West Feliciana’s Jacob Fudge won the Outstanding Field Athlete.
West Feliciana captured the team competition with 117 points, as 10 teams scored at least one point.
Kentwood was second with 81, followed by Port Allen’s 79, Loranger’s 72 and Jewel Sumner with 55.
Bogalusa finished sixth with 43 points and Franklinton was eighth at 36.
