Pine topped by Northlake Christian School
Pine came up short against Northlake Christian School in an 11-10 District 10-2A loss Friday night on the road.
The Raiders got off to a rough start and trailed 11-2 through four innings. Pine came back and scored five runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh, but was unable to complete the rally.
Rion Terrell and Luke Fonda had big days at the plate. Terrell posted three hits. He hit a homer, drove in two runs and scored three runs. Fonda went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Tate Roach, Ethan Knight had two hits that included a double each.
Roach scored a run. Knight drove in three runs and scored two runs.
D.J. Thomas tallied a hit and an RBI.
Kendall Sheridan, Dillon Morris, Blaine Polk and Trey Cooper all scored a run.
Pine lost two of the three games to Northlake Christian. All three games were decided by one run. Northlake Christian School won the game on Tuesday, March 28, by a score of 5-4 in nine innings. Pine was victorious, 3-2, on Wednesday, March 29.
Mt. Hermon comes up short to Slaughter
Mt. Hermon’s Yellow Jackets were defeated by Slaughter Community Charter, 7-4, in a District 7-B road game Friday.
Preston Knight and D.J. Elzey posted two hits each. Knight drove in a run, while Elzey scored a run.
Clinton Roux and Trey Brumfield recorded a hit each. Roux had an RBI and a run scored while Brumfield scored a run.
Trenton Wilson posted an RBI while Travell Brumfield scored a run for the Yellow Jackets
Bowling Green falls in a doubleheader
Bowling Green lost both games of a doubleheader Friday, 11-1 and 9-0, to Central Private School in District 5AAA action on the road.
The Buccaneers had four hits in the 11-1 game that lasted six innings.
Sammy Phelps, Brandon McElveen, Logan Leger and Cameron Cowart all had one hit. Phelps scored a run and Cowart drove in a run.
In the 9-0 game, Bowling Green had three hits, one each by James Taylor, McElveen and Nick Wager all had one hit.
Mt. Hermon wins high-scoring game over Independence
Mt. Hermon’s D.J. Elzey had a huge game and the Yellow Jackets were victorious over Independence, 22-21, last Wednesday at home.
Elzey went 4-for-6 with two doubles and a triple to go with five RBIs and four runs scored.
Trey Brumfield recorded three hits, five runs scored and two RBIs.
Colby Cutrer, Remington Bankston and Dylan Clark all posted two hits.
Cutrer drove in two runs and scored a run. Bankston doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Clark tallied three runs and scored once.
Preston Knight had one hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
Device Taylor scored two runs while Clinton Roux and Trenton Wilson scored a run each in the victory.
The Yellow Jackets had 14 hits, drew seven walks and were hit by pitches twice.
