FHS’s Spears tosses 3-inning no hitter in Lady Demons’ win

Franklinton’s softball team suffered an 8-4 loss to Mamou in the Live Oak Tournament that took place Friday, but rebounded Monday for a 17-0 victory over Independence on the road.
The Lady Demons had four hits Friday, led by Anna Miley, who had a solid day with two hits that included a double and two RBIs.
Bailey Spears and Morgan Stafford tallied a hit each. Spears had an RBI.
Stephanie Crowe, Ashlyn Ard, Laynea Stafford and Sydney Wills all scored one run in the contest for the Lady Demons.
Franklinton had two games scheduled for Saturday, but those were rained out and will not be made up.
In the 17-0 three-inning win, which was not part of the tournament, Bailey Spears threw a no-hit shutout. Spears struck out five and walked one.
Offensively, Morgan Stafford had a huge day. Stafford went 3-for-3 with a triple, five RBIs and a run scored.
Stephanie Crowe, Alaina Fussell and Shamya Hart all had one hit. Crowe tripled, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Fussell had an RBI and Hart scored three runs.
Ashlyn Ard tallied three runs, Aliya Faour and Anna Miley scored two runs each, Madison LaSalle, Spears and Sydney Wills all scored a run.
Bethany Sandifer had an RBI.
Franklinton earned 15 walks and got hit by a pitch.
