FHS’s Magee captures high jump at meet

Franklinton’s Drahcir Magee captured the high jump in the PHS Relays that took place Friday at Ponchatoula High School.
Magee and Ponchatoula’s An’ya Pollard, along with Lakeshore’s Elizabeth Wangler, cleared the bar at 5 feet, but Magee won the tiebreaker, which is fewest misses.
Pollard and Wangler ended up tied for second.
Magee was also sixth in the long jump, with a distance of 13 feet, 8 inches. Teammate Tellise Magee was 10th at 13-3. Amite’s Kayla Watson won the event at 16-3.
Franklinton was the only local team in the meet.
Both of Franklinton’s relay teams finished in second place.
The 4×100-meter team ran in 52.88 seconds behind Amite, which won with a time of 51.75.
Franklinton’s relay team included Jayln Bickham, Tellise Magee, Jada Thompson and Raelyn Gross.
The 4×200 team had a time of 1:53. Amite won that race as well, and finished in 1:50.
Franklinton’s team included Bickham, Gross, India Dickerson and Tellise Magee.
Gross was fourth in the 200, finishing with a time of 27.83 seconds. Teammate Tamirria Thomas was 13th at 29.40. Watson won in 26.42.
Deja Conerly was 15th for the 100. Fontainebleau’s Erin Sellers won in 12.73.
Aleria Dillon was eighth in the shot put at 28-10. Marlaysia Robertson tied Archbishop Hannan’s Theresa Smith for 11th, as both had distances of 28-5.75. Mandeville’s Reilly Johnson won at 39-4.
Davidson was 21st in the discus at 45-10. Johnson was tops with 110-10.5.
Davidson was 16th during the javelin at 65-10. Danaria Magee tied Ponchatoula’s Unique Rowan for 17th at 64-3. Archbishop Hannan’s Caroline Standley won the event at 108-11.
Mandeville won the team competition with 123 points, as 11 teams scored at least one point.
Ponchatoula was second with 98, followed by Fontainebleau with 70. Archbishop Hannan and Amite tied for fourth with 63.5 points each.
Franklinton finished in seventh place with 31 points.
