Franklinton defeated by Pearl River
Franklinton’s Demons suffered a 3-0 loss to Pearl River in a District 8-4A road game that took place Thursday.
Wyatt Verret and Ty McGhee had a hit each for the Demons.
Hunter Maxwell allowed three runs, all in the third inning, on five hits with six strikeouts, a walk and two hit batters in a complete-game effort.
Franklinton victorious over Fontainebleau
Franklinton’s Demons defeated Fontainebleau, 9-2, in a game held Friday March 17 at home.
Jared Jenkins had two hits and two RBIs. Wyatt Verret posted a hit and two RBIs. Jamarian Crain drove in a pair of runs.
Ty McGhee and J.P. Magee had a hit each and J.J. Jackson drove in a run for the Demons.
Jenkins, the winning pitcher, allowed a run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks over six innings of work.
Mt. Hermon splits a doubleheader with Amite
Mt. Hermon went 1-1 in a doubleheader against Amite that took place Tuesday, March 14 at home.
Mt. Hermon suffered a 13-6 setback in the opener.
The Yellow Jackets led 6-5 after six innings, but Amite scored eight runs in the seventh for the win.
Amite scored 12 of its 13 runs over the final three frames.
Mt. Hermon had four hits.
D.J. Elzey recorded two hits with a run scored.
Remington Bankston and Byron Hyatt had one each. Hyatt drove in two runs.
Clinton Roux scored a run while Trenton Wilson drove one in. Colby Cutrer and Trey Brumfield scored a run and posted an RBI each while Dylan Clark and Preston Knight each scored a run.
Mt. Hermon captured the second game, 16-12.
Amite took a 12-10 lead after a six-run sixth, but Mt. Hermon responded with six its own in the bottom of the frame to go up 16-12 and capture the victory.
The Yellow Jackets pounded out 19 hits.
Cutrer and Brumfield both had big games, combining for nine hits.
Cutrer went 5-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored. Brumfield had a 4-for-5 game with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Roux, Bankston, Elzey, Hyatt and Knight all had two hits. Roux drove in three and tallied two runs. Bankston had two RBIs and three runs scored. Elzey and Hyatt had an RBI and two runs scored each. Knight drove in two and scored one run.
Jarod Maples scored a pair of runs in the win.
Bowling Green topped by McComb
Bowling Green lost to McComb, 4-3, in a home game that took place Tuesday, March 14.
Cameron Cowart singled twice, drove in a run and scored once.
Brandon McElveen, Grady Ball, Ben Bickham and James Taylor had a hit each. Ball drove in two runs and Taylor tallied a run.
Cameron Bell scored a run.
Wager got the loss, but pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits with 13 strikeouts and a walk.
Bowling Green committed four errors.
