Franklinton defeats Pearl River in league opener
Franklinton scored eight runs in the first inning and sent 13 hitters to the plate in a 12-8 victory over Pearl River to begin District 8-4A play at home Tuesday.
The Demons led 11-2 after four, but the Rebels closed the gap to 11-7 with five runs in the fifth. At one point in the fifth, Pearl River had six consecutive hits.
Collin Dominguez recorded two hits in his two at bats. He drove in two and scored a run.
Jamarian Crain, Wyatt Verret, Trent Varnado, J.P. Magee and J.J. Jackson all had one hit. Crain scored a run, Verrett tallied a run and drove one in, Varnado and Jackson drove in two each and Magee posted an RBI.
The Demons coaxed 11 walks and were hit by two pitches.
Collin Dominguez was the winning pitcher after allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits in four-plus innings.
Verret picked up the save after giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits over three innings.

Pine victorious over Albany
Pine’s Kendall Sheridan, Dillon Morris and Trey Cooper combined to go 12-for-15 in a 19-2 victory over Albany in a road game that took place Tuesday on the road.
Sheridan went 5-for-5 with three runs scored. Morris went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Cooper was 3-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run scored.
Tate Roach posted two hits in his four at bats with a double and two runs scored.
Ethan Knight, Rion Terrell, Dakota Brooks, Jonathan Shelby and Ian Turner all posted a hit. Knight and Brooks drove in a run and scored twice each, Terrell had an RBI and a run scored and Shelby and Tuner drove in a run each.
Blaine Polk, Jarwin Jordan, Luke Fonda, Kaden Fersch and D.J. Thomas all scored a run.
Terrell pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Pine had two big innings. The Raiders scored six runs in the first and nine in the sixth.
Pine took advantage of seven Albany errors that led to 15 unearned runs in the game.

Varnado comes up short to St. Martin’s Episcopal
Varnado suffered a 3-2 loss to St. Martin’s Episcopal in the District 8-1A opener on the road Tuesday.
Errol Varnado and Jaylan Jefferson had two hits each.
Varnado tripled and scored both runs. Jefferson doubled and drove in a run.
Xavier Moses singled for Varnado.
Despite getting the loss, Jefferson pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run on eight hits with nine strikeouts and three walks (one intentional).

Bowling Green falls to Centreville
Bowling Green School suffered a 12-0 loss to Centreville Academy in a District 5AAA road game that took place Tuesday.
The Buccaneers were limited to two hits. Cameron Cowart tripled and Brandon McElveen singled.

Mt. Hermon falls to Kentwood
Mt. Hermon suffered a 16-3 loss to Kentwood in Monday’s game that took place on the road.
The Yellow Jackets had four hits, one each by Trenton Wilson, Remington Bankston, Dylan Clark and Preston Knight.
Bankston drove in a run and scored once. Clark and Knight drove in a run each.
D.J. Elzey and Trey Brumfield posted a run each.
