Pine competes in large meet at SLU

Pine’s Evan Sinopoli had a pair of top-10 finishes in the St. Thomas Aquinas-Judy Baehr Relays that took place Friday, March 10 at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Sinopoli took fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 3 inches, and seventh for the 110-meter hurdles in 18.60 seconds.
Springfield’s Damariae Claiborne won the long jump at 20-4.75 and St. Thomas’ Will Hetzinger was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.72.
Brennan Kelley was ninth in the shot put at 39-6. Teammate Jakari Hart was 20th at 29-3.5. Northlake Christian School’s Caleb Sampson won with a distance of 52-4.75.
Sinopoli finished 13th in the 100 at 12.28, as Walker’s Terrell Warner won in 11.51.
Pine was the only local team in the event, which was a large meet. Fifteen teams scored at least one point.
St. Paul’s won the team competition with 102 points in a close competition, as Walker was second at 99 and Loranger scored 84 to finish third. St. Thomas Aquinas (50) and Isidore Newman (44.5) were fourth and fifth. Pine was 13th with four points.
Kelley was 17th in the discus at 84-9 while teammate Hunter Temples finished 21st at 76-10. Covenant Christian Academy’s Brayden Short won with a throw of 130-0.
Kelley finished 20th in the javelin with a distance of 107-6 while teammate Joe Whaley was 25th at 96-11. Parkview Baptist’s Tzuriel Pedigo won with a throw of 195-8.
Pine’s Ethan Sinopoli ran the 3,200 meters in 6:36 for 31st. St. Paul’s Eric Coston was the event’s winner with a time of 4:25.
