Franklinton’s Dawson is District 8-4A MVP, Oestriecher Coach of the Year

Franklinton’s Darius Dawson was named the District 8-4A Most Valuable Player and his coach Brad Oestriecher was selected the league’s Coach of the Year.
During district play this season, Dawson averaged 17.6 points, 4.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
This was Oestriecher’s first year with the Demons and he guided them to a 19-10 overall record and a co-district championship with Salmen at 7-1 in district play.
Franklinton and Salmen split the season series at one game apiece, as each team won on their home court.
Franklinton reached the playoffs as the 22nd-seeded team, but lost to 11th-seeded LaGrange, 65-39. LaGrange made it to the regional round before falling to sixth-seeded Plaquemine.
Salmen made it to the postseason as the 21st-seeded team, but lost in the first round to 12th-seeded DeRidder, 49-46.
Two more Demons made the first team, including T.Y. Pope and Raisean Hart.
Pope averaged 15.7 points and 10.7 boards per district contest. Hart averaged 11.1 points per game to go with 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in district contests.
Sam Smith was named an all-district honorable-mention player. He averaged 9.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per league contest.
Salmen’s first-teamers are Dietrick Stoval, Michael Young and Cameron Vickers.
Lakeshore’s first-team players include C.J. Ivy, Hunter Dean and Christian Jones.
Loranger’s first-teamers are Jabari Coston and D.J. Hoofkin.
