Bogalusa’s Tate finishes 2nd in 2 events at West Harrison Meet

Bogalusa’s Javon Tate was the runner-up in a pair of events and Jared Jackson was third in one event at the West Harrison Track and Field Invitational in Mississippi on Thursday, March 2.
Tate came in second in the long jump at 21 feet and second in the triple jump at 39 feet, 10 inches.
Picayune High School’s Ronald Polk captured the long jump at 22-0 and Canton High School’s Damerius Wash was the triple jump winner with a distance of 43-0.
Also for Bogalusa in the long jump, Jalin Lucas was seventh at 18-9.5.
Jared Jackson was also a top-three finisher. He was third in the high jump at 5-8. West Harrison’s Ahmad Hawthorne won the event with a height of 6-0.
Khalil Williams (12 seconds) and Tate (12.53) ran seventh and 14th in the 100-meters, as Canton’s Bralon Robinson won in 11 seconds.
Williams finished the 200 in 25.49 for 13th. Canton’s Zahlyn McGruder won in 22.66.
Clydeterrious Thompson (57.81) and Kentrae Lewis (1:02) were ninth and 15th for the 400. McGruder was victorious in 51.25.
Lewis came in 17th for the 800 with a time of 2:52. St. Martin High School’s Julian Bilbo was the winner at 2:05.
Terry Owens was fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 12:04. West Harrison’s Matthew Collins won in 11:06.
Dre’Toris Mark (19.80) and Lucas (21.70) were eighth and 12th for the 110-meter hurdles. Canton’s Rytravious Ollie ran 16.60 to win the event.
Mark tallied an 11th-place finish in the 300-hurdles in 48.87, as Canton’s Pizarro Travis won in 41.96.
In the relays, Bogalusa finished four in the 4×100 (46.74) and fifth in the 4×200 (1:36) and 4×400 (4:06).
The 4×100 and 4×200 teams feature Tate, Williams, Jackson and Thompson while the 4×400 team has Thompson, Jackson, Lewis and Mark.
Canton won the 4×100 (45.17) and 4×200 (1:32) while West Harrison was victorious in the 4×400 (3:39).
