Varnado falls to Centerville in regional round

Varnado’s Wildcats suffered an 87-69 loss to Centerville in the regional round of the Class 1A state playoffs on the road Feb. 28.
Errol Varnado led the Wildcats in scoring with 21 points.
Andre Jones and Damon Kirsh weren’t far behind, as Jones tallied 19 points and Kirsh had 18. Kirsh hit four 3-pointers.
Ardarryl McGowan posted six points while Armontee Kemp added five for the Wildcats. Kemp knocked down a 3-pointer.
The ninth-seeded Wildcats finished the 2016-17 season with a 16-13 record.
This year’s team had five seniors that included Jones, Kirsh, Varnado, Xavier Moses and Jakyle Newkirk.
