Pine Raiders capture 3 of 4 to begin season

Pine opened the season with a 3-1 record in its first four games.
The Raiders’ first game was a 14-4 win over Bogalusa in six innings on Thursday, Feb. 23 at home.
Each team had just five hits, as they combined for 11 errors.
Ethan Knight went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Tate Roach, Harrison Jones and Dillon Morris had a hit each. Roach drove in three runs and scored twice. Jones had two RBIs and Morris added one.
Trey Cooper had one RBI for Pine. Kaden Fersch had three runs scored while Blaine Polk and Gabe Guttuso tallied two runs each and Rion Terrell and Luke Fonda scored once each.
Winning pitcher Morris threw three innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Terrell threw three shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out five without walking anybody.
Bogalusa’s Kadarrius Mingo posted two hits in three at-bats, which included a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Jay Bickham, Tyrese Roussell and Devion Pittman had one hit apiece. Rousell drove in a run and scored once while Pittman tripled and drove in a run.
Chaz Smith and Tron Dillon scored a run each for the Lumberjacks.
The following day was a 16-1 win over Mt. Hermon in five innings on the road.
The Raiders scored in every inning. They had three runs each in the first two innings, two each in the next two innings and six in the fifth. Mt. Hermon’s run came in the first.
Cooper went 3-for-4 with triple and an RBI.
Kendall Sheridan and Jones had two hits, including a double each. Sheridan scored three runs while Jones posted two RBIs and a run scored.
Roach, Knight, Terrell and Chris Mayeaux put up one hit each. Roach drove in three and scored three times while Knight had one RBI, Terrell logged two RBIs and a run scored and Mayeaux drove in two and scored a run.
Morris tallied two runs while Evan Sinopoli, Dakota Brooks, Polk, Fonda, Guttuso and Fersch all scored one run and D.J. Thomas had an RBI.
Winning pitcher Knight went three innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits with eight strikeouts and a walk. Jones threw a pair of scoreless innings. He gave up one hit, struck out four and walked one.
Mt. Hermon had three hits. Preston Knight went 2-for-3.
Clinton Roux posted a hit and a run scored.
Pine split the next two games at home Tuesday, with a 5-4 loss to Kentwood on Feb. 27 and an 11-5 victory over Albany the following day.
Cooper, Sheridan and Fonda all had two hits against Kentwood. Cooper doubled and drove in a run.
Knight and Mayeaux had a hit each. Knight doubled and drove in two.
Fersch, Roach, Morris and Terrell all scored a run.
In the second game, Cooper and Fonda posted two hits apiece. Cooper’s hit was a triple. Fonda drove in a pair of runs and scored once.
Roach, Knight, Morris and Terrell all posted one hit. Roach, who walked three times, drove in a run and tallied three runs. Knight had an RBI and a run scored. Morris posted two RBIs and a run scored while Terrell had an RBI.
Fersch scored four runs while Sheridan had an RBI and a run scored.
Winning pitcher Terrell allowed three runs (none earned) on two hits with four strikeouts and three walks over five innings.
