Bowling Green falls in 2nd round of Overall Tournament

Bowling Green School’s girls basketball season came to an end Wednesday in the second round of the MAIS Overall Tournament, after a 42-38 loss to Marshall Academy.
The Lady Bucs led 10-3 after one and 20-16 at halftime.
The game was tied at 29-29 through three before Marshall outscored Bowling Green 13-9 in the final period for the win.
McKinley Seal tallied 18 points to lead the Lady Bucs in scoring. Seal also grabbed nine rebounds, made three steals and dished out two assists.
Hallie Robertson posted seven points, which included a 3-pointer, and two boards.
Hollie Waskom recorded six points, which included a 3-pointer, along with six rebounds and two assists.
Shelby McDonald had three points on a 3-pointer, a steal and four rebounds.
Sydney Watson and Katelin Junkins added two points each. Watson had three rebounds and three steals while Junkins finished with six rebounds, a block and a steal.
Bowling Green opened the tournament by defeating Magnolia Heights, 44-39.
The Lady Bucs had a 10-5 lead through one and a 21-18 advantage at halftime. Bowling Green extended the lead to 34-26 after the third before going on to the win.
Waskom led the team with 12 points and she hit a 3-pointer. She also had nine rebounds and an assist.
Robertson recorded nine points, which included a pair of 3-pointers.
McDonald tallied eight points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Seal finished with seven points, three rebounds and six assists. Watson posted five points that included a three and two boards, and Junkins had three points and three rebounds.
Bowling Green finished the 2016-17 season with a 27-9 record.
The team featured seven seniors, including Junkins, McDonald, Seal, Waskom, Watson, Mason Edwards and Peyton Stogner.
