BGS girls take 2nd in Class AAA

Bowling Green’s Lady Bucs finished in second place at the Class AAA Tournament at Kirk Academy, falling to the host school in the championship game Feb. 25.
Kirk Academy defeated Bowling Green, 53-40. The Lady Bucs trailed only 14-10 after one quarter of play, but Kirk Academy blew the game open in the second quarter by outscoring Bowling Green 18-2. The Lady Bucs trailed 32-12 at halftime, but cut the deficit in half and were behind 34-24 after three quarters.
Hollie Waskom scored 18 points to lead the Lady Bucs, and also led the team with six rebounds. McKinley Seal added nine points, Katelin Junkins scored six, Hallie Robertson added four, and Shelby McDonald scored three.
Sydney Watson finished with four rebounds, while Seal and McDonald had two each. Seal led the Lady Bucs with three assists.
The Lady Bucs earned a Class AAA Tournament semifinal victory the previous day, defeating Columbia Academy 45-27.
Seal led Bowling Green with 16 points in the win, while Waskom added 11 and McDonald scored 10 points.
Junkins finished with five points, and Watson added three. Waskom led the Lady Bucs with eight rebounds, and both Robertson and Seal had three assists.
