Delatte barely misses out on championship round at state meet

Franklinton’s Porsha Delatte nearly reached the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in the Division I LHSAA Indoor Championship Meet that took place Saturday at LSU.
The junior needed to come in the top eight of the preliminary round that featured 17 runners to advance.
Delatte ran the event in 9.97 seconds and missed out on reaching the finals by just 0.19 seconds. The eighth-place time in prelims was 9.78.
C.E. Byrd’s Kyah Loyd had the top time in prelims at 8.86 and then beat that time in the finals, running an 8.82 to capture the state title.
Baton Rouge Magnet’s Daniel Metoyer was runner up at 9.31.
Up next for track is the outdoor season. Franklinton begins the outdoor season at the Ponchatoula Meet that takes place Friday, March 3.
