Bowling Green Lady Bucs win District 5AAA Tournament

Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers were victorious in the District 5AAA Tournament last week at Bowling Green.
The top-seeded Lady Bucs began by defeating fourth-seeded Central Private, 55-24, Friday.
Eleven players scored for the Lady Bucs.
McKinley Seal posted 11 points to lead Bowling Green in scoring. Seal, who hit five of her 10 shots, including a 3-pointer, grabbed two rebounds, had two assists and four steals.
Katelin Junkins posted nine points on 4-of-7 from the floor to go with three rebounds and two steals.
Hollie Waskom put up eight points and hit three of her six shots and she went 2-for-3 from the free-throw line. Waskom pulled down five rebounds and dished out an assist.
Kylie Seals tallied six points, two rebounds and six steals.
Anna Beninato put up four points and a steal.
Hallie Robertson, Shelby McDonald, Allie McCain and Payton Stogner all had three points. Robertson had two rebounds, four assists and two steals. McDonald grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists and made a pair of steals while McCain and Stogner had a rebound each.
Callie Seal and Mason Edwards posted two points each. Edwards pulled down six rebounds and made a steal.
Hannah Varnado added a point and two rebounds in the win.
The win put the Lady Bucs in the title game.
The Lady Bucs won the championship game, 67-29, over second-seeded Centreville Academy on Saturday.
Waskom, McKinley Seal and Robertson all scored in double figures for the Lady Bucs.
Waskom led the way with 23 points and she had a strong shooting night. Waskom was 8-of-11 from the floor and 2-for-3 from beyond the 3-point line. She also converted five of her six free throws. Waskom finished with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Seal posted 18 points on 8-of-10 from the field, and she hit a 3-pointer. Seal grabbed two rebounds, dished out five assists and made five steals.
Robertson tallied 13 points and she hit half of her eight shots. She was 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Robertson also had a rebound and an assist.
Junkins had seven points on 2-of-4 shooting. She also hit both of her free-throw attempts. Junkins grabbed two boards, had two assists and she made a steal.
McDonald posted four points, which included a 3-pointer, to go with an assist and two steals.
Kylie Seal added two points and four rebounds.
Mason Edwards grabbed two rebounds.
Bowling Green hit 61.5 (24-of-39) percent of its field goal attempts and 53.3 percent (8-of-15) of its 3-pointers.
Five players were named to the all-tournament team for Bowling Green, including McKinley Seal, Waskom, McDonald, Robertson and Junkins.
Bowling Green advanced to the South AAA Tournament, which began yesterday and is being played today, Friday and Saturday at Simpson Academy.
Bowling Green began play yesterday against Cathedral Unit School. The game was not complete by press time.
