Mayor: Too early to rope off MCCA spots

Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said during Tuesday’s Bogalusa City Council meeting that it is too early for citizens to begin roping off their viewing spots for the city’s MCCA Mardi Gras parade.

Perrette said there is an ordinance stating that spots cannot be roped off until “two weeks” before the MCCA parade. That period would not start until this Saturday, Feb. 11, and all citizens who have already marked off spots have technically broken the law.

“I’ve noticed some trailers going on,” Perrette said. “You can’t get out over here at Austin Street … you can’t see to pull out over there behind the hospital, because of trailers and so forth. It causes risk.”
