Bogalusa Little League Baseball Registration
The 2017 Bogalusa Little League Registration is taking place over the next two Saturdays.
Signups are being held Feb. 11 and 18 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the baseball park on Avenue U in Bogalusa.
The cost is $30 per child, $25 for a family of two and $20 for a family of three or more.
Applications and fees are due by March 18.
The age groups are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. There is also a 4-6 year old age group for T-ball.
A birth certificate is required for all participants at the time of registration.

Franklinton Softball Girls Association signups
The Franklinton Softball Girls Association is holding registration over the next two Saturdays.
The signups take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Feb. 11 and 18 at the Franklinton Junior High School Cafeteria and participants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate.
The cost is $60 for the first child and $55 for the second.
All players must have their own equipment — glove, helmet, cleats and bat. No metal cleats are allowed.
The skills day will be March 4 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. for 8U and 10U and 10 a.m. for 12U and 14-18U.

Terry Wood Memorial Boxing Extravaganza is tomorrow
The 19th annual Terry Wood Memorial Boxing Extravaganza takes place at Rayburn Correctional Center on Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m.
The gates open at 4:30 p.m. to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere featuring music performed by the offender band and some incredible deals on the offender made hobby craft items. Belts, wallets, purses, jewelry boxes and clocks, are just a few of the items that are available.
The Terry Wood Memorial “King of Hearts” event is the beginning of the Louisiana Inmate Boxing Association season. This event features boxers from five different correctional facilities including Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola), Dixon Correctional Institute, Raymond Laborde Correctional Center and Elayn Hunt Correctional Center boxing in nine different weight divisions and was formerly known as “The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre.”
This event is named after Terry Wood, a Corrections Captain, who worked at Rayburn Correctional Center and traveled worldwide as a professional boxing referee until his death in the late 1990s.
The boxing event begins at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 4:30. The admission price is $5 at the door.
Gates close at 7:30.
Refreshments will be sold through out the event. All proceeds go to the Relay for Life.
Rayburn Correctional Center is a smoke free facility.
Also, no electronic recording devices are permitted. Cellphones and cameras are not allowed at RCC.
