Lumberjacks victorious over Albany in key district matchup

Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks were victorious over Albany, 80-45, in a key District 7-3A game that took place Monday at Albany.
The win put Bogalusa in a tie for the top spot in the league with Amite, as both teams are 6-1. The Lumberjacks are hosting Amite in Thursday’s final district contest and that will determine the District 7-3A champion. The girls game begins at 6 p.m. The boys game tips off after.
Amite won the first match up between the teams, 87-77.
Nine players scored for Bogalusa in Monday’s game, with four hitting double figures.
B.J. Mingo and Tramarcus Levi tied for the team lead with 15 points each. Levi knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Dominique Tillman posted 11 points while Timahj Peyton recorded 10. Peyton was successful on two 3-pointers.
Thomas Turner had nine while Laster Hills put up eight. Jaylen Brickmore totaled six points while Sean Sentino and Shelton Stewart had three each.
Turner, Hills, Sentino and Stewart all knocked down one 3-pointer.
Bogalusa is 17-10 overall. The Lumberjacks have won three in a row and seven of their last eight.
Amite is 20-7 overall.
