Pine victorious over Pope John Paul II
Pine’s Bethany McGinnis scored 20 points, helping the Lady Raiders defeat Pope John Paul II, 48-43, in District 10-2A play on the road Tuesday.
Breyanna Brown and Savannah Kennedy tallied 10 points each.
Trayanna Williams posted four points while Hannah Ard and Karley Voth added two each.
Pine is 12-12 overall and 2-1 in district play going into tonight’s home game against Northlake Christian School. The Lady Raiders are 23rd in the unofficial LHSAA Class 2A power rankings.
Pope John Paul II is 6-14 overall and 0-3 in district. The Lady Jaguars are 17th in the LHSAA Division III unofficial power rankings.

Tough 4th quarter hurts Bowling Green in loss to East Rankin
Bowling Green was outscored 13-4 in the fourth quarter in a 47-41 loss to East Rankin Academy at home Tuesday.
The Lady Bucs led 37-34 through three quarters of play.
Hollie Waskom scored 15 points and hit all five of her free throws, and she knocked down two 3-pointers. Waskom also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
McKinley Seal posted eight points on 4-of-8 from the floor. Seal grabbed seven rebounds, dished out three assists and made six steals.
Shelby McDonald posted seven points on 3-of-6 shooting, which included a 3-pointer. McDonald pulled down a rebound, had two assists and added a steal.
Katelin Junkins logged six points on 2-of-4 from the field. Her four shots were 3-pointers. Junkins also had three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Hallie Robertson tallied three points on a 3-pointer to go with three rebounds.
Sydney Watson added two points and a rebound.

Bowling Green wins in double OT
Bowling Green School’s Hollie Waskom scored 21 points and McKinley Seal put up 18, helping the Lady Buccaneers defeat Columbia Academy, 65-63, in double overtime of a District 5AAA contest on the road last Friday.
Seal hit a pair of free throws in the second overtime period to break a 63-63 tie and put the Lady Bucs in front for good.
Seal also hit a 3-pointer, to go with five rebounds and five assists.
Waskom hit 8-of-16 from the floor — including a 3-pointer — and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. Waskom grabbed six rebounds.
Cailee Fruge put up 10 points and a rebound.
Sydney Watson posted six points on a pair of 3-pointers. She also grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist.
Shelby McDonald had four points, three boards, three assists and four steals.
Hallie Robertson and Katelin Junkins tallied three points each. Robertson finished with an assist while Junkins grabbed a rebound and added an assist. Both players hit a shot from beyond the 3-point line.
The game was tied 52-52 through regulation and 56-56 after the first overtime.

Bogalusa falls to Albany
Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks suffered a 60-15 loss to Albany in last Friday’s District 7-3A contest at home.
Diamond Martin led Bogalusa with nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.
Dyamon May tallied three points while Dinasia Harris had two and Lulu Ball added one.
Bogalusa moved to 9-10 overall and 0-3 in district. Albany is 16-11 overall and 3-0 in district.

Mt. Hermon falls to Holden
Mt. Hermon’s Lady Jackets suffered a 65-24 loss to Holden last Friday in a District 7-B contest on the road.
Sikoya Jackson scored seven points to top Mt. Hermon.
Toni McDonald posted six points while Destiny Lewis had four. Keisha Banks recorded three and Macy Applegate and Patera Williams added two each. Banks hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Jackets.

Ben’s Ford falls to Centreville Academy
Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Lady Eagles lost to Centreville Academy in a District 5AAA home game Thursday, Jan. 19.
Celeste Crowe posted seven points, five rebounds and five steals.
Alaina McClelland recorded four points, a rebound, an assist and two steals. Kelci Freeman tallied four points, a board and five steals. Allison Forbes had one point, two rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
Valerie Page had a point, four rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot. Katelyn McCain grabbed four boards and dished out an assist. Addison Seal and Kayleigh Wheat tallied two rebounds each while Kristen Keaton had a rebound, a steal and a blocked shot. Gabbie Atkins had two rebounds and Abbie Atkins added a rebound.

Varnado wins against Houma Christian
Varnado placed four players in double figures in a 67-45 victory over Houma Christian in District 8-1A play at home Tuesday.
Armontee led the Wildcats with 18 points, which included four 3-pointers.
Errol Varnado and Damon Kirsh tallied 13 each and Andre Jones posted 10. Kirsh hit three 3-pointers and Varnado knocked down two from beyond the arc.
Gary Crumedy and Xavier Moses scored four points each while James Williams had three and ArDarryl McGowan added two. Williams hit a 3-pointer.
Varnado is 8-12 overall and 3-2 in district. The Wildcats are 16th in the unofficial LHSAA Class 1A power rankings.
Houma Christian is 13-8 overall and 5-1 in district. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak and Houma Christian entered having won nine of its last 10 games. Houma Christian is fourth in the unofficial Division IV power rankings.
