Bowling Green School defeats Ben’s Ford Christian School
Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers won their District 5AAA game over Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Lady Eagles, 51-7, Tuesday at home.
Ten players scored for the Lady Buccaneers, led by Hollie Waskom, who posted 15 points.
Shelby McDonald posted eight points, which included a pair of 3-pointers.
Hallie Robertson, McKinley Seal, Callie Seal, Hope Harrison, Payton Stogner and Cailee Fruge all had four points. Robertson hit a 3-pointer.
Anna Beninato and Hannah Varnado added two points each for Bowling Green.
Ben’s Ford’s Kayleigh Wheat, Kristen Keaton and Celeste Crowe all posted two points while Addison Seal added one for the Lady Eagles.
Wheat grabbed a rebound and made a steal. Crowe pulled down four boards and posted a steal. Seal had three rebounds.
Valerie Page recorded two boards and two steals. Ayriana Culpepper had three boards while Katelyn McCain had two rebounds and a steal. Alania McClelland dished out an assist and Hailey Roberts grabbed a rebound.
Franklinton comes up short against St. Scholastica Academy
Franklinton’s Lady Demons lost their first District 8-4A game with a 49-46 setback to St. Scholastica Academy on the road Tuesday.
The Lady Demons missed a last-second shot attempt.
Danaria Magee led the Lady Demons with 10 points.
Kaniya Dillon and India Dickerson posted nine each while Jaylen Bickham had eight.
Jada Thompson and Hayle Davidson tallied five apiece for the Lady Demons.
Franklinton is 10-12 overall and 2-1 in district heading into tonight’s road game against Salmen. The Lady Demons are 31st in Class 4A of the unofficial LHSAA power ranking.
St. Scholastica is 9-14 overall and 1-2 in district. SSA is 13th in Division II in the unofficial LHSAA power ranking.

Mt. Hermon falls to Doyle
Mt. Hermon’s Lady Jackets lost to Doyle, 69-25, in a road game that took place Tuesday.
Kaley Hughes scored 11 points to lead the Lady Jackets. She hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Patera Williams had five points that included a 3-pointer, while Toni McDonald posted three points on a 3-pointer and Sikoya Jackson, Macy Applegate and Keisha Banks all added two points for Mt. Hermon.

Pine beats Mt. Hermon
Pine’s Lady Raiders won their game Friday, Jan. 13 with a 55-33 victory over Mt. Hermon’s Lady Jackets on the road.
Breyanna Brown and Savannah Kennedy topped Pine with 17 points each. Brown knocked down a 3-pointer.
Bethany McGinnis tallied nine points on three 3-pointers while Hannah Ard posted five, Kaylyn Ginn had four and Trayanna Williams added three in the win for the Lady Raiders.
Toni McDonald and Sikoya Jackson scored eight points each to lead Mt. Hermon. McDonald hit a 3-pointer.
Kaley Hughes had seven points while Patera Williams recorded five and Macy Applegate added four.

Bowling Green defeats Central Private
Eleven Bowling Green players were in the scoring column, as the Lady Buccaneers defeated Central Private School, 62-15, in a home game that took place last Friday night in District 5AAA play.
McKinley Seal and Hollie Waskom tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points each. Seal hit six of her 11 shot attempts and a 3-pointer. She was 2-for-3 from the free-throw line. Seal finished with four rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Waskom was 7-of-10 from the floor and she hit a 3-pointer. Waskom also pulled down three boards and made a pair of steals.
Sydney Watson posted eight points, which included a 3-pointer. Watson, who was 3-for-4 from the free-throw line, pulled down four boards, dished out an assist, blocked a shot and made a steal.
Hallie Robertson, Allie McCain and Cailee Fruge all had four points. Robertson grabbed three boards and had three steals. McCain converted both of her free throws and Fruge grabbed three rebounds.
Shelby McDonald and Callie Seal tallied three points each. McDonald hit a 3-pointer and added two assists. Seal had a steal.
Anna Beninato, Kylie Seals and Peyton Stogner all put up two points. Beninato had a rebound. Seals recorded two boards, an assist and two steals while Stogner grabbed a board.
Bowling Green led 15-8 after one quarter, and 43-12 at halftime.
The Lady Bucs hit 48.1 percent of their field-goal attempts (25-for-52) and had 13 steals.

Bogalusa defeated by Independence
Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks suffered a 51-34 loss to Independence in a District 7-3A contest held at home Friday, Jan. 13.
Diamond Martin scored 16 points to lead the Lady Jacks. She was successful on four 3-pointers.
Lulu Ball tallied six points while Quantasia Lewis and Asia Nelson posted four points each and Dinasia Harris and Bianca Pittman added two apiece.
Bogalusa is 9-9 overall and 0-2 in district going into tonight’s home game against Albany. Bogalusa is 31st in Class 3A in the unofficial LHSAA power ranking.
Independence is 37th in the unofficial LHSAA Class 3A power ranking.

BOYS
Ben’s Ford Christian School defeats Bowling Green School
Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Cameron Byrd scored 20 points and C.J. McClelland had a solid double-double, helping the Eagles to a 55-44 victory over Bowling Green School in a District 5AAA game held at Bowling Green.
Byrd also had three rebounds, three dimes and three steals.
McClelland scored 16 points and pulled down 10 boards while dishing out two assists, making two steals and blocking a shot.
Kameron Underwoood scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists made three steals and blocked a shot.
Jeremiah Slocum tallied eight points to go with an assist, a steal and a blocked shot.
Kevin Simmons had two points, two boards, two assists and three steals.
Seth Schilling pulled down three rebounds, dished out an assist and had a steal while Gage Tervelon grabbed a rebound.
Bowling Green’s Kenny Robertson scored a game-high 25 points, which included a 3-pointer.
Lync Sharp posted six points while Jonathan Smith had five, Connor Comeaux and Austin Reedy recorded three each and Tez Smith added two. Comeaux and Reedy each hit a 3-pointer.

Varnado victorious over Ecole Classique
Varnado’s Errol Varnado scored 22 points, as the Wildcats defeated Ecole Classique, 63-43, in a District 8-1A game Tuesday on the road.
Varnado hit two 3-pointers.
Three total players hit double figures and 10 tallied points for the Wildcats.
James Williams posted 12 and Armontee Kemp tallied 10.
Ja’Corrius Bickham scored five points, which included a 3-pointer, while Ardarryl McGowan had four and Damon Kirsh, Xavier Moses, Jadarrius Magee, JaKyle Newkirk and JoNathan Green all added two.
Varnado is 7-12 overall this season and is 2-2 in district play going into next Tuesday’s home game against Houma Christian. The Wildcats are 16th in the unofficial LHSAA Class 1A power rankings.
Ecole Classique is 6-8 overall and 1-3 in district. Ecole Classique is ranked 21st in the unofficial LHSAA Division IV power rankings.

Mt. Hermon falls to Doyle
Mt. Hermon’s Yellow Jackets suffered a 46-39 loss to Doyle in Tuesday’s game on the road.
Gerald Bunch was Mt. Hermon’s leading scorer with 17 points that included a pair of 3-pointers.
Device Taylor tallied nine points while Ike Tate posted six, Jordan Smith had four and George Smith added three. Taylor knocked down two 3-pointers and George Smith hit one shot from beyond the arc.
