FHS’s Williams makes all-district in volleyball

Franklinton had a volleyball player make first-team all-district this year, as for the 4-II league.

Senior setter Lexi Williams was picked for the top team for the Lady Demons.

Franklinton also had two honorable mention all-district players in Staci Hathcox and Brittany Dubose.

St. Scholastica Academy middle blocker Allison Weimer is the district’s Most Valuable Player and Doves coach Andrew Beyer is the league’s Coach of the Year.

This season, the Doves reached the semifinals as the third-seeded team, but lost to state runner-up Assumption three games to one.

St. Scholastica had three others make the first team in setter Molly Brown, outside hitter Alexis Colomb and middle blocker Axia Crespo.

Lakeshore had four players on the first team including libero (defensive specialist) Brianna Blackshear, outside hitter Katie Gunther and middle blockers Katie Mulle and Ally Schenck.

The Lady Titans made it to the quarterfinals, as the eighth-seeded team, but lost to top-seeded and state champion St. Thomas More, 3-0.

Salmen had one first-team player in libero Marisa Brown.

Salmen went to the playoffs, as the No. 24 team, but lost to ninth-seeded Belle Chasse in three games. Belle Chasse reached the second round.

Three St. Scholastica players made second team in right-side hitter Sarah Estapa, libero Kellie Garraway and outside hitter Alessia Reeves.

Two other made the second team in Lakeshore defensive specialist Molly Hebert and Salmen middle blocker Kourtney Stovall.
