Bowling Green 59, Silliman Institute 40

Bowling Green’s Jonathan Smith led the Buccaneers with 18 points as they picked up a 59-40 win over visiting Silliman Institute on Friday, Dec. 9.

Smith also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kenny Robertson finished with 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Finishing with a double-double, Lync Sharp had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Connor Comeaux added seven points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Da’Marcus Fland finished with four points, five rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks. Austin Reedy added two points, two rebounds and two assists; Corbin Garris scored two points; and Daniel Bischoff finished with an assist.

 

Albany 71, Pine 64

Although his Raiders lost 71-64 at Albany on Tuesday, Pine coach Drew Meyerchick was pleased with his team’s effort.

“They were winning by 19 in the beginning of the fourth,” he said. “We fought our tails off and got it to 66-61, which was a good sign because we could have easily given in and gotten whipped. So it’s good to see us growing in that aspect.”

Trey Cooper led the Raiders with 26 points, including 13-of-15 from the free-throw line. Ty Galloway added 22 points, including three 3-pointers.

Jordan Anderson and Christian Warren added seven points, and Kazarion Warren finished with two.

 

GIRLS

 

Parklane 50, Bowling Green 40

Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers had a first-quarter lead but couldn’t hang on late, in a 50-40 loss to visiting Parklane on Tuesday.

Bowling Green led 16-13 after one quarter, but trailed 25-22 at halftime and was down 36-30 after three quarters.

McKinley Seal and Hollie Waskom each scored 17 points to lead the Lady Buccaneers. Cailee Fruge finished with four points, and Shelby McDonald added two.

One key in the game was that the Lady Buccaneers were just 1-for-16 from 3-point range. Waskom hit the only 3-pointer for the team.

Waskom led Bowling Green with eight rebounds, and Seal added six. Seal finished with three assists and Sydney Watson had two. Seal also led the team with two steals.
