In Washington Parish, Republican state Treasurer John Kennedy defeated Democrat Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell for the US Senate seat.

In the runoff for Franklinton Alderman, Republican Darwin Sharp defeated Douglas Brown.

Sharp won with 344 votes to Brown’s 304.
