Franklinton hosting 3-day tournament starting today

Franklinton High School is hosting a basketball tournament that  gets underway today, with three days of quadruple-headers.

Games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 6:10 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.

The tournament features nine teams, including eight from Washington Parish.

The event tips off with 2015-16 Class 2A playoff team Pine facing Fontainebleau in a girls game at 3:30 p.m.

They will be followed Pine’s boys taking on 2015-16 Class 1A quarterfinalist Varnado at 4:50 p.m.

The final two games of the night include playoff teams from last year — Class 3A Bogalusa and Class 1A Varnado’s girls hit the court at 6:10 p.m. The night wraps up with 2015-16 Class 3A playoff team Bogalusa and Class 4A second-round team Franklinton in boys competition at 7:40 p.m.

On Thursday, Pine and Varnado’s girls begin the competition at 3:30 p.m., followed by Varnado-Bogalusa’s boys at 4:50 p.m. The final two games Thursday include Franklinton and Fontainebleau’s girls at 6:10 p.m. and Pine-Franklinton in a boys game at 7:40 p.m.

The tournament concludes Friday. The opener that day features a girls game between Franklinton and Varnado. That game will be followed by Bogalusa-Pine boys at 4:50 p.m.

The third contest is Bogalusa-Pine girls, with Franklinton and Varnado facing each other in a boys game in the tournament’s finale.
