Bogalusa’s Owens takes 49th in Class 3A Cross-Country

Bogalusa’s Terry Owens finished 49th in the Class 3A state meet that was held Tuesday afternoon at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Owens ran the three miles in 19 minutes, 55 seconds.

He was one of two Lumberjacks competing at the state meet. Kentrae’ Lewis finished in 23 minutes, 34 seconds to finish 121st.

E.D. White’s Lucas Marcello ran a 16:47 to capture the state title, as 140 runners finished the meet, as four of the top 11 runners were from E.D. White.

Marcello won the meet by two seconds over teammate Race Bourgeios (16:49).

West Feliciana’s Chandler Sullivan (16:52) was third, followed by E.D. White’s Samuel Avants (17:07), University Lab’s Jack Moran (17:10), E.D. White’s Jay Barrilleaux (17:13), Winnfield’s Tyler Hight (17:17), St. Louis’ John Ammons (17:27.1) and Noah McNally (17:27.2) were eighth and ninth and Lusher Charter’s David McGrade (17:33) rounded out the top 10.

E.D. White’s Zachary Robichaux (17:36) was 11th.

E.D. White is the state champion in the team competition with 24 points, as 19 squads were eligible for team awards.

West Feliciana (70) was second, followed by St. Louis (77), Erath (139) and Lusher Charter (186).
