Mt. Hermon Tournament today, tomorrow

Mt. Hermon School’s basketball tournament will be played today and tomorrow.
Eight teams, including five from Washington Parish, are competing in the tournament, which features a quadruple header of games each day.
Contests each day begin at 4:30 p.m. and are scheduled to begin every hour, 15 minutes.
Today, the tournament tips off with Kentwood and Jewel Sumner playing in a boys game at 4:30 p.m.
They are followed by Mt. Hermon and Franklinton girls at 5:45.
At 7 p.m., the host team’s boys squad takes the floor against Pine before Jewel Sumner and Pine’s girls face each other in today’s finale at 8:15.
Tomorrow, action gets under way at 4:30 as Franklinton and Jewel Sumner’s girls take the floor.
The second game features Mt. Hermon and Kentwood’s boys before Mt. Hermon and Pine’s girls play in the third game.
The tournament ends with an 8:15 contest between Pine and Jewel Sumner’s boys.
The event features four playoff teams from last year.
In the boys, the host team made the Class B postseason before falling to quarterfinalist Midland, 70-35, in the opening round.
In the girls, Jewel Sumner captured the Class 3A state championship with a 60-50 victory over Parkview Baptist.
Mt. Hermon made the Class B playoffs before falling to second-round team Negreet, 67-14, in the opening round.
Pine reached the Class 2A postseason, but lost in the first round to second-round club Lakeview, 56-36.
